Step 1
Open up the text tool and write whatever text you want. Click Ok and the text should appear with the selection box around it.

If you keep the selection box around and go to Filter >> Deform >> Ripple, it should turn into this:

If you go back and take away the selection box by de-selecting, and do the same step, it will look like this:
